We will try to convince you that eating is a very important and complex process. Consuming meals should be a kind of a ritual, both healthy and pleasant, engaging all our senses. It is obvious that the right diet improves the functions of our organism, provides it with important nutrients and enhances its performance.
However, it is not enough to choose only healthy products. We also have to find out how to enrich and balance our diet. Consuming products from one or two groups is insufficient, it is necessary to vary our meals and their nutritive value in order to provide our organism with everything we need. Below are several tips and pieces of useful information that will allow you to broaden your knowledge about a well-balanced diet.
According to the nutrition pyramid, products can be divided into carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, milk products, meat, fish and products containing sugars. Depending on our individual needs, we have to decide which group will constitute our nutritive basis and which group will be an extra. In the majority of cases, the situation is quite similar – we should consume carbohydrates, such as grain products, pasta, bread, wheat germs, light cakes and complement them with proteins – cheese, milk, yoghurts, lean meat, seafood as well as fruits and vegetables which provide vitamins and mineral salts.
Sugars and fats are also important. However, they should not be consumed excessively. A healthy fat is for instance olive oil or animal fat, whereas sugars that our organism needs can be found in fruits or dark chocolate. We should try to buy natural products from a reliable source, whose quality is unquestionable.
Regularity also plays a crucial role. We should eat our meals at roughly the same times everyday, with regular breaks in between. We shouldn’t eat too much, portions should be optimal. It is always better to eat less but more often, and consume light snacks in between the meals, such as fruit salad, yoghurt or sandwiches made of fresh vegetables and rice bread.
